VR This present past. Vadim Crețu

21 Dec 2020 - 01 Dec 2050

Vadim Crețu (b. 1970, R. Moldova) is a Romanian painter, known also as an exceptional colourist and drawer. Among his ability to trace rigorous lines and make use of exuberant colours, Vadim Crețu is also a fine, discreet and meticulous poet of light and classical simplicity. The way the painter immortalises his deepest impressions, confers to his artwork the value of an intimate, delicate and mystery confession (Alina Petrescu).

Vadim Crețu graduated the National Art University in Bucharest, in the class of the famous painter Ștefan Câlția. The painter was awarded the Lion Club scholarship, offered by the Institute of Architecture in Darmstadt, Germany and he collaborated with Van Rijn Gallery in Paris. Vadim Crețu has participated in more than 20 group and personal exhibitions in Europe and his works are in private and public collections in Romania, Greece, France, Switzerland.

Art has always been debated. Perhaps this is the purpose of the artistic act: to generate opinions, sensations and intense controversies. To evolve humanity. Moreover, art does another valuable thing: it excites. When looking at a work of art, one expects to experience emotions.

Vadim Crețu writes essays through images about a secret world, a world that hides in darkness in many untouched corners. The foreground of these imaginary spaces is the coordinate for what one has learned about the meaning of life. At a closer glance, the underside of this universe fascinates obsessively. The unknown hiding places that slide behind the most vivid settlements on Earth frighten us to the point of petrification and turn us into statues in the middle of its forests. The darkness that lurks after each green act leads to the world of ancient tragedy, from which the statuary silhouettes seem to descend carrying inanimate voices of sin that will disturb us uninterruptedly.

Vadim Crețu’s art is emotional.

You feel vulnerable and helpless in front of it. It stirs up all your senses, possesses you and defeats you with an uncontrolled force. You wake up face to face with yourself. Alone. (Andrei & Andreea Grosu)
